Ready for the 2016 World Social Forum in Montreal

Another world is needed- together it is possible!

Together with some of our member organizations, partners and allies, we will take part in the World Social Forum in Montreal (9-14 August), an annual meeting that since its first gathering in Porto Alegre, Brasil, in 2001, has worked to develop an alternative future through the exchanges with many people, grassroots groups and civil society organizations.

This is a particular year for CIDSE, as the gathering is organized in Canada, where our member Development & Peace is based; with them and other partners and allies we will hold several activities. Some of the events will take place within the World Forum on Theology and Liberation, the side forum of the WSF that brings together socio-political and spiritual movements daring to invent another possible world.

CIDSE, through its activities will be focusing on a range of issues among which: the Encyclical Laudato Si’, the impact of the extractive model and alternatives to it, business and human rights, climate justice and sustainable food and agriculture. The World Social Forum will also be a chance to engage in the “Youth Space” through our lifestyle campaign “Change for the Planet- Care for the People” in collaboration with our French member CCFD-Terre Solidaire, who will take part in the World Social Forum with a large youth delegation also including Southern partners.

We are looking forward in to meeting representatives of civil society organizations from all around the world, exchanging and generating new ideas for a fairer and more democratic future!

To keep up-to date on our activities and thoughts about this years’ World Social Forum, please visit our website and social media, which will be updated from Montreal by CIDSE, members and partners, through articles, blog posts and interviews.
