Live from Santa Marta: Advancing Climate Justice and a Just Transition Beyond Fossil Fuels
The First International Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta, Colombia, represents an important moment for governments, civil society, faith communities, Indigenous leaders, experts, and other actors committed to advancing a just, orderly, and equitable transition beyond coal, oil, and gas.
As the world faces the deepening impacts of the climate crisis, faith communities have a unique role to play in bringing ethical and moral clarity, spiritual depth, and a justice-centered perspective to global climate discussions. Inspired by the call to care for our common home, Catholic and faith-based organizations are increasingly raising their voices to advocate for a transition that protects vulnerable communities, respects human dignity, and responds to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.
In this context, Laudato Si’ Movement, CIDSE, CELAM, Caritas Internationalis, and ISER are co-organising the webinar “Live from Santa Marta: Advancing Climate Justice and a Just Transition Beyond Fossil Fuels” – a one-hour online event designed to connect people participating in the Santa Marta Conference with a broader global audience.
The webinar will offer a timely space for sharing key messages, reflections, and updates from the conference, while inviting Catholics and people of goodwill around the world to put their faith into action.
