It’s time to prepare together to make this a revolutionary year for climate action.
It has been clear since the publication of Laudato Si’ almost exactly 3 years ago that acting on climate change is a moral duty. 2018 is going to be crucial for the climate as the 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) expected to deliver on implementation tools for the Paris Agreement. Yet reports from the Bonn Climate Change Conference in May suggest stalling that could delay progress.
There are lots of chances for you to act on climate this year. We invite you to a joint webinar where CIDSE and Global Catholic Climate Movement, our partners and allies will present our upcoming summer camps on sustainable lifestyles, marches, and mobilizations. If you’re a climate activist with a local initiative who would like to brainstorm and form possible synergies, this is the time to join a movement. Also presenting will be representatives of Manos Unidas and FEC. They have proven experience in organizing groups on the ground to demand progress and engagement on climate. We also expect the attendance of the body of dedicated volunteers these partners have already gathered for change.
Delivering the tools needed to put the Paris Agreement into effect will be the major challenge when countries meet at COP24 in Poland this December. Let’s make it clear that the climate can’t wait any longer, and neither will we.
