International conference on climate change: Faith actors working towards climate justice (registration and programme)

This conference will take place on the occasion of the Conference of Parties (COP19) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), chaired by the government of Poland. It is guided by the urgency of addressing dangerous climate change and by the principles of catholic social teaching such as the option for the poor, human dignity and stewardship of creation. It offers a great opportunity to look at how local communities are coping with climate change, how churches are responding to it and to discuss what role faith actors and international organizations around the world can play in shaping climate and energy policies that serve the most vulnerable.

Konferencja będzie wydarzeniem towarzyszącym Szczytowi Klimatycznemu COP19 (Konferencji Stron Ramowej Konwencji Narodów Zjednoczonych w sprawie Zmian Klimatu – UNFCCC), którego tegorocznym gospodarzem jest Polska.  Uczestnicy konferencji będą mieli okazję do dyskusji na temat koniecznych działań na rzecz ochrony klimatu w kontekście zasad nauki katolickiej: pomocy ubogim, godności ludzkiej i dzieła stworzenia. Konferencja będzie doskonałą okazją, aby przyjrzeć się, jak lokalne społeczności już dziś radzą sobie ze zmianami klimatu oraz by omówić, jaką rolę duchowni i organizacje międzynarodowe mogą odegrać w kształtowaniu polityki klimatycznej służącej ochronie najsłabszych.

Cet événement est organisé à l’occasion de la Conférence des Parties de la Convention Cadre des Nations Unies sur les Changements Climatiques (CCNUCC), présidée par le gouvernement polonais. Cet événement est motivé par l’urgence qu’il y a à résoudre la crise climatique, ainsi que par les principes de la doctrine sociale de l’église tels que l’option pour les pauvres, la dignité humaine et la protection de la création. Il offrira l’opportunité d’échanger sur la façon dont les communautés locales s’adaptent aux changements climatiques, la façon dont les églises répondent à cette crise, mais également de débattre sur le rôle que les acteurs confessionnels et les organisations internationales autour du monde peuvent jouer pour construire des politiques climat et énergie qui bénéficient aux plus vulnérables.
