In Gaza recently, I asked several Palestinian mothers what worried them most. They all replied that their main concern was for their sons more than their daughters. Why? Because as young men they would feel that they had to challenge Israel’s blockade on the territory. “They would get involved in clashes, and they would be killed,” the mothers told me.

Entire Palestinian community lives under daily threat of forcible transfer

The Israeli Civil Administration has signalled advancements to forcibly transfer the entire Palestinian Bedouin community of Khan al Ahmar, located in the central West Bank, east of Jerusalem. The forcible transfer of the village would constitute a war crime under the Fourth Geneva Convention and it would set a precedent to dozens of other Palestinian communities facing similar risks.
