Crisis de los derechos humanos en Nicaragua

Carta abierta a la Unión Europea y sus Estados miembro. Bruselas, 27 de abril 2018 La RED EU-LAT (anteriormente CIFCA y Grupo Sur) y la red CIDSE compuestas por 58 organizaciones europeas e internacionales manifiestan su profunda preocupación por las muertes, desapariciones, ataques a periodistas y contra la libertad de expresión reportados en Nicaragua. Hacemos un llamado a la Unión Europea y a sus Estados Miembros, a condenar estos hechos, a apoyar públicamente a las personas defensoras de derechos humanos, y a solicitar al Estado de Nicaragua el respeto de las obligaciones internacionales en materia de derechos humanos.

The high level of violence against environmental human rights defenders (EHRDs) is becoming a very worrisome phenomenon in Latin America. These kind of defenders, who operate, for example, in the context of the extraction of natural resources and megaprojects, are often left without any protection in the face of violations and abuses by states or private actors.
