EU talks on Conflict Minerals regulation and launch of the Campaign: “Tell EU leaders to stop conflict minerals”

CIDSE, Justice & Peace Belgium and the European Network for Central Africa (EurAc) have the pleasure of inviting you to attend a press briefing to discuss the EU conflict minerals regulation with experts in a crucial time for its development and to assist to the launch of the campaign “Tell EU leaders to stop conflict minerals”.

During this briefing you will have the chance to hear about the background of the conflict minerals EU regulation and the moral imperative to act, getting recent data and statistics as well as first hand information from the Democratic Republic of the Congo about the impact of conflict minerals on communities, and find out about citizens’ and church initiatives to protect human rights and peace.

● Denise Auclair, CIDSE Senior Policy Officer launching the new campaign: “Tell EU leaders to stop conflict minerals” by CIDSE, EurAc and Justice & Peace.
●Abbot Léonard Santedi, Secretary General of the Congolese Bishop Conference and Priest of Kinshasa presenting the situation of communities affected by mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the moral perspectives of conflict minerals.
●Frederic Triest, EurAc Deputy Director presenting the background on the EU conflict minerals regulation.

Personal interviews will be possible after the press briefing.
