Friday, 20 September 2013 07:56

Agribusiness and Human Rights: Briefing for Social Movements, September 2013 (available in EN - ES - FR) Investment in agriculture is urgently needed. Agriculture is the main source of livelihood for people living in hunger in developing countries, 50% of whom are smallholder producers, a further 25% are workers in the food industry, and others include indigenous and forest dwellers. The importance of this sector to hunger reduction and poverty alleviation should not be underestimated. The kind of investment needed, however, is an issue which is currently at the heart of many international policy debates on food security and nutrition.
