In the face of hunger. Food security in our globalized world, a report by Manos Unidas, April 2013 (Available in ES – EN)
The purpose of this document is to inform and raise public awareness about the problem of hunger from the perspective of the current reality of our globalized world. The document approaches the food security problem through the complex lens of recognising and guaranteeing food as a human right, in a context where agriculture and natural resources are objects of commodification, demand is rising and consumption habits at the global level are changing, the environmental damage and climate change presume determinants more and more significant, and when international policies keep betting for industrialised agriculture and speculative trading, all in a relaxed regulatory framework, that leaves small producers unprotected and without access to food for the most vulnerable.
