Who we are

We are… an international alliance of Catholic development agencies working together for global justice.

Our 17 member organisations from Europe and North America come together under the umbrella of CIDSE to fight poverty and inequality. We challenge governments, business, churches, and international bodies to adopt policies and behavior that promote human rights, social justice and sustainable development. These are important elements of our mission, which we try to achieve through joint advocacy, campaigning and development cooperation work. We work with people of all faiths and none.

Central to our policy formulation and advocacy is our member organisations’ work on a wide range of priorities, with local partner organizations in Africa, Asia and Latin America. It is the voices of our partners in the South which we intend to make heard at key events at European, North American and international level.

Our priority issues are development finance; food, climate justice; and business & human rights.  Moreover we work on the broader issue of rethinking development. This means considering wider structural changes needed for a more just and equal world.

As a lay-led Catholic network, we believe in a world with peaceful and fair foundations where the lives and choices of rich and poor alike are transformed through solidarity.
