BACKGROUND
At COP29, the international community has decided to end fossil fuels and expand renewable energies. A just energy transition is crucial for the decarbonisation, and this is precisely where questions of green Extractivism come into play. In this model, global injustices have been manifested over the years – fossil energies represent this model. There is an opportunity to learn from past mistakes and to design a mining industry that enables the tripling of renewable energies in a just, sustainable, and needs-based manner.
