NDCs for Climate Justice: Using the First GST for Greater Transparency and Ambition
When: Monday, 11 November 2024 , 16:45-18:15 LOCAL TIME (1:45-3:15 CET)
Where: Baku, COP29 Conference Centre, Blue Zone, Room SIDE EVENT 6
BACKGROUND
Facilitative dialogues create a space for inclusive dialogue, knowledge-sharing and mobilising collective action from diverse stakeholders on how the Global Stocktake (GST) can be improved. Civil society can play an important role in contributing to shaping the Global Stocktake into a robust and inclusive mechanism that holds governments accountable and ensures that climate action is equitable and socially just for all. The discussion will focus on ensuring climate justice for vulnerable and marginalised communities.
The side event will explore in detail the role of the GST in holding countries accountable for their commitments and promoting equity in climate action, and how this process can drive more ambitious climate action aligned with the 1.5°C Paris Agreement and will be moderated by Josianne Gauthier, CIDSE Secretary General.
